Great web site! What an amazing story about R.C. and Ski. They are heroes in my eyes, as is my own father who flew over Germany out of Horham AFB in Suffolk England as part of the 95th Bomb Group. I am grateful to all of these men of "The Greatest Generation" who made such supreme sacrifices for this wonderful country of ours. Thank you for sharing your family with us.

Hi. My name is Michael J. Cannon. I have no hint that we might be related. My grandfather (George) came from Ireland in the late 1800s. I want you to know though, that I am proud to ahare a last name with R.C. That was quite a moving story about him and the Lexington, and the subsequent reestablishment of ties with his buddies. R.C. is only eight years older than I, so the war is very familiar to me. You did a fine job on your site. So long.

Hi, My name is Kenny Ward. My birth father's name is James Cannon. I never knew that he existed until my mom pasted away in 1974 and my aunt gave me a picture of James Cannon and told me he was my real father. He was wearing a Navy uniform and we look alot alike. The James Cannon I am speaking of would have been in the Wash. D.C area early in the year 1946 because I was born in Dec. of 1946. I don't want anything from him but to know somthing about my roots. Ms. Vido, My name is Jeff Cannon and live in Terry, MS. Every year we have a Cannon Family Reunion at the Historic Neshoba County Fairgrounds near Philadelphia, MS. I am certain we are not related but we may be connected. My name is Ralph W. Parrish. My father was born in Dallas County. His father whose name was, I believe Purly (or Pearly, I never saw it written only heard my father speak of him). In any event, grandfather was killed and may grandmother married a man whose last name wa Arnold (I believe). The connection? Years ago, when I lived in Wichita, Kansas, a man named Hollis Atteberry knocked on my door and introduced himself as a cousin. In our conversation we figured out that we weren't blood relatives as he was related to Mr. Arnold. Hollis (and I think I recall the name correctly) was in the Air Force and stationed at McConnell AFB there in Wichita. I saw the name Atteberry in the surname list on the Dallas County geneaology website so, clicked on your link. Would you have any information on the Parrish side? My e-mail is brparrish@aol.com if you do have or would like additonal information. Thanks

Hi Pat, I was a Cannon, and I am in search of my fathers ancestry. His father was John Cannon, the son of James Cannon from Gilmer County West Virginia. James was married to Catherine VanHorne. I have been able to trace her, but can find no information on James except that he was born abt 1832. I want to know who his parents were and where they came from. I would love to hear from any one that has that information, or information on my grandmother, that married John. Her name was May or Mamie Pritt, also used the name Hays. Trying to determine my gg grandfather's pedigree. He was James L. Cannon, born circa 1815, probably in Tennessee. Last known to be in Gibson County, TN around 1854. Thanks. Jim Prange <PrangeJL@bellsouth.net>

I have a picture of John Leanord Cannon, that was married to Hanna Stansbury, taken at his father's funeral in northwestern North Carolina. He is shown with his Brother and five sisters, his mother and the preacher. His father was born on October 10, 1859 and died November 29, 1917. I believe his brother's name is Earl Cannon. I don't know his father's name or any of other siblings, or mother's name. If you have any knowlege or would like to see the picture, please contact me Norma Cannon at jckestner @ aol.com.

The website was nice. However, I'm not seeing a connection. I'm looking for information on Arthur Calvin Cannon born 2/4/1886 (son of Jesse Cannon). Arthur was born in South Dakota, then moved to Iowa (Cass County). Jesse gave the children away (after his wife died), then moved to Colorado. If you have any info of Cannon's in the Cass County Iowa area. I would be interested.

Hi. I'm a descendent of Col. John Canon born 1741 Pennsylvania. I have a clipping from 1938 that speaks of a C. W. Canon of Medina, Ohio, and that he came armed with an old Canon family Bible.

Looking to see if there is a connection.

Also - your John Canon 1741 - you have buried there in 1857 - does his tombstone have anything on it other than that 1776 star?

Willing to share - Bonnie blmalmat@bellsouth.net

Her family was from Texas. The county she was born in was Houston county. The town was Tyler. Her father's name was David Cannon and his father was Edward Nelson Cannon. Great job, Pat. I am researching my family and I am having a tough time. I can't find my Great-Grandfather in any census. He was James Cannon and he married Sallie Crow in Chattanooga, Tn, in 1883. My Grandfather, Macon M. Cannon, was born in Chattanooga in 1886. He was raised by his Grandmother, Rebecca Crow. I can not find anything else about James or Sallie. Have you run across these names? Any suggestions?

Hi Pat, I've just found your web site, so I can not give you a proper eval as of yet. However it looks very nice from the onset. I do hope we are related. I have been searching for a link to my Confederate ancestor for some time ( Ensign NATHAN THOMAS CANNON ) Co. A. 2nd Kentucky Infantry. He was a color bearer with an officer rank. Most think Ensign was strictly a Naval Rank. Anyway, I'll keep plugging. Jerry Cannon Snellville, Ga.

I am very interested in the cannon family histroy. My grandmother was Gurtha (Gerthie, Gertie) Cannon. I have been unable to find anything on her or her parents. All I know is she had one brother, Gentry and two sisters I am not sure of their names. She was married to Luther Greenlee and had five children. They lived in Missouri but were married in Cario, Illinois. My grandmother's birthday was November 13, 1888 in Catoy, Ky and died on December 14, 1964 in Sikeston, Mo. I would appreciate any info you have if we are related. My e-mail address is j.2539@juno.com. thank you very much I really enjoyed your site. Janice

Dear Pat, Thank you so much for putting your work online. I have searched and searched hoping to find my great grandmothers folks. It is like a dead-end mistery to me. I know she was Margaret Cannon born Oct. 1, 1854, and died May 22, 1942; but, I can't find out who her parents were. I know she had a brother named Joseph P Cannon. They were said to be from Mississippi or Tennesee. She married William David Yeager from Tennesee and they later moved to Oklahoma then to Arkansas. My pictures of Jospeh resemble your posted picture on this website. I know it may be a very long shot, but I must try. I really want to find my folks. Thanks for any help you may give. I thought it was interesting, however, my grandmother's maiden and middle names are spelled incorrectly and deaths of certain people have not been recorded. My grandmother's maiden name is spelled Gillaspie, not Gillespie. Her middle name is Lue, not Lou. Maybe the newspaper archives or whatever source used did not have the proper spelling in the first place.

Pat, as you might remember, we corresponded in times past, as I searched for my ggrandfather Isaac Cannon in OH. Have you ever heard of a Cannon connection to Carnahan? Bob Carnahan from Mt. Juliet, TN found an Isaac Cannon, son of Isaac Cannon, Blandsford, MA, son of John Carnahan in Blandsford, MA, son of Samuel Carenahan b. abt 1698 in UlsterCnt;y, Ireland. Run across any of this? I am pretty sure this is my connection. If so, no wonder I could not trace him. B. Jay Cannon Bjpjcannon@aol.com
